TMPRSS2 gene (21q22) labeled as orange, with a total length of 790 kb; ETV1 gene (7p21) labeled as green, with a length of 1Mb.
Overview
A TMPRSS2/ETV1 gene anomaly detection probe is a used to identify a specific chromosomal translocation involving the TMPRSS2 gene (21q22.3) and the ETV1 gene (7p21.2). While the TMPRSS2-ERG fusion is more common, the TMPRSS2-ETV1 rearrangement is a significant driver in a subset of prostate cancers.
