DEK gene probe is used to detect chromosomal rearrangements involving the DEK proto-oncogene on chromosome 6p22.3, is most commonly used in hematology to identify the translocation t(6; 9)(p22.3; q34.1), that fuses DEK gene with NUP214 gene, a recurrent genetic abnormality found in patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).
